In this work, a study is presented that aims to investigate the repercussions of participation in the subject Academic Writing, based on the analysis of the class diaries written by students participating in the second semester of 2017 shortly after the classes. The data collected correspond to a scope of ten productions, which will be analyzed through Discursive Textual Analysis, based on the assumptions of Moraes and Galiazzi (2011) with the intention of answering the following research question: What are the repercussions of participation in the subject Academic Writing present in teachers’ journals in continuing education? With a focus on academic writing and the consequent impact on teacher education, the theoretical framework that aims at this research is fundamentally about these two major themes. Regarding academic writing, the theoretical contribution contemplates some concepts of writing, presents specific characteristics of academic writing and discusses aspects that benefit and hinder the qualification of textual productions in the university context. Regarding teacher education, it highlights the role to be played by teachers of different areas and levels of teaching in relation to the commitment to writing of their students, besides presenting some possibilities regarding the development of pedagogical actions, intentionally aimed at the qualification of writing in Higher Education. The results obtained in this study point out as repercussions of participation in the already mentioned discipline the reflexive exercise of writing about topics, such as: the valuation of subjectivity in the production of knowledge; attention to linguistic diversity; the alterity and the valorization of the other.
