Abstract

This article aims to discuss the possibilities, potential, and limitations of historiographical work in research using digital collections, focusing on the work developed in the Tatu Digital Repository, an initiative carried out by the Research Group in History of Education, Digital Repositories and Historical Collections (PHERA) at the Federal University of Pampa (Unipampa), Bagé campus (RS). The text begins with necessary problematizations regarding new perspectives on interpreting historiographical work linked to the digital field, reinforcing the importance of digitization and dissemination strategies carried out through digital repositories. Finally, it will discuss the possibilities for historians working with digital repositories through experience reports collected in a national survey conducted using a digital form. Preliminarily, it argues for the importance of problematizing new directions and possibilities for historiographical work, with the Digital History of Education as a field of study, representing a potential object of research and investigation that, with scientific and methodological rigor, enriches the work of the History of Education researcher.

Alessandro Carvalho Bica, Federal University of Pampa (Unipampa), Bagé, Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil.

Associate Professor at the Federal University of Pampa (Unipampa) in the area of ​​Education since October 2007. PhD in Education from the University of Vale do Rio dos Sinos (2014), Master's in Education (2006) and Bachelor's degree in History (1997) from the Federal University of Pelotas; Director of Unipampa, Bagé Campus (2021-2025 term); permanent faculty member in the Academic Master's/Doctorate Program in Teaching (Unipampa/Bagé); member of the National Association of Postgraduate Studies and Research in Education (ANPED) and member of the History of Education Working Group, Consultant to the Directorate of Basic Education Assessment (DAEB) INEP for large scale assessments. Coordinator of the Research Group PORTAL DO BICENTENÁRIO (Southern Region) and Leader of the Research Group in History of Education, Digital Repositories and Historical Archives (PHERA Unipampa/Bagé). Project Coordinator: TATU Digital Repository (http://sistemas.bage.unipampa.edu.br/tatu) and Educational Heritage, Educational Institutions and Historical Collections and their interfaces with School Memories and School Cultures. Has experience and interest in the following research areas: History of Education; Digital Repositories, School/Historical Collections, Educational/School Heritage and Pedagogical/Educational Press.
