In the Middle Ages, the body of the witch was imagined as a source of terror and the sign of an incontrollable feminine, always monstrous and in contact with a frightening exteriority. In films, witches have consistently played that role, joining a gallery of other common monsters, such as vampires, ghosts, and zombies. However, the aim of this work is to analyze some recent films that represent the witch also as a power for freedom and creation, depicting the feminine as a limit-condition always open to change and novelty.
