Starting from a summary of the theories of the event by Vera França, we propose a reinterpretation of the event based on the theory of Alain Badiou, for whom this concept embodies a break in the state of affairs, from which a subject and a process of truth are constituted that cannot be included in the categories of knowledge that underpin the situation. From this perspective, it is arguable that the post-foundational concept of event should lead us to postulate as parti pris that not everything is discourse, for there is something in the order of the event that leads one to think of a political configuration concerning processes that break the state of affairs and to propose a conceptual theorization of the relationship between discourse and event.
