About the Journal
Brief history of the magazine
Founded in 2010, the electronic journal Educação Por Escrito, linked to the Graduate Program in Education of the Pontifícia Universidade Católica do Rio Grande do Sul (PPGEDU / PUCRS), aims to disseminate investigations of Graduate Programs in Education and in related areas. With this, we hope to continue the tenacious effort to train researchers in the various communities that make up our society, generating spaces for the socialisation of research.
Mission
The journal's mission is to publish original academic works related to the field of Education that contribute to the theoretical, methodological, and/or empirical improvement of the field.
Focus and Scope
The journal's mission is to disseminate and promote the knowledge production in Humanities, Education and Teaching, creating and encouraging publications of its own and in partnership with other research centers and institutions, national and foreign. With such scope, the journal aims to publish original and unpublished scientific contributions, preferably based on research papers, in the form of articles, special articles (by authors provided for the composition of extraordinary volumes and / or thematic dossiers) book reviews, interviews and translations. Collaborations must regard the academic publication criteria. The journal is not responsible for opinions, information and / or concepts presented in published texts, whose content, in this sense, is the sole responsibility of its authors.
Peer Review Process
Submitted texts are formally evaluated first by the editorial staff, who may request corrections and additions. Texts that do not fall within the scope of the journal, that do not meet mandatory requirements or that are not adequate within the established deadline will be archived. Once the submission admissibility has been verified, the double-blind evaluation process begins. Two opinions are requested from independent evaluators, volunteers and specialized in the submitted text subject, which will serve as a subsidy to the editors, remaining with them the ultimate decision. The referees may require changes in the evaluated texts, or recommend the publication, or give an opinion for its rejection. The submitted text publication depends on the authors’ compliance with any changes required by the referees. The evaluation process takes into account the originality of the topic treatment, the consistency and rigor of the approach, its contribution and the adequacy to the journal thematic line. The referees’ names will remain confidential, and the authors’ names will also be omitted from the referees. In case of controversy between the evaluative opinions, the text will be forwarded to a third evaluator. If the controversy persists, the text will be evaluated by the editorial committee, which may be decided by the editor. All authors will receive copies of their articles opinions, with the reviewers comments and, eventually, of the Editorial Committee and / or the editors. The estimated time for the evaluation and publication processes is, on average, from six months to one year, and may vary according to the flow of submissions. The reviewers are expected to be objective, judicious and ethical in their assessment. If there is any conflict of interest or difficulty in formulating a judgment without significant influence from external factors, they should contact the editors. They are expected to act in order to qualify the knowledge construction, for the benefit of the author’s growth, including indicating relevant references for the works improvement, when necessary. The text and other information provided in the evaluation process must be treated confidentially and cannot be used for any other purpose.

Continuous Flow.
Open Access Policy
This journal provides open access to all its content, following the principle that free access to scientific research generates a greater global exchange of knowledge.
Preprints
This journal adopts the principles of Open Science, aligning itself with contemporary practices that promote transparency, accessibility, and the dissemination of scientific knowledge. The journal accepts for evaluation manuscripts already available on a reliable preprint server, such as SciELO Preprints, of a non-commercial nature, provided they are not simultaneously undergoing peer review in another journal. The corresponding author must indicate, at the time of submission, whether the text is available on a preprint server and provide the respective DOI.
Search Data
The journal Educação Por Escrito suggests that authors deposit their research data in institutional or thematic repositories, such as the CIS Social Information Consortium. If the research has reused data, we request that the research data be cited and included with the cover page of the file.
Principles of Ethics and Best Practices in Academic Publishing
Authorship
The authors are original owners and will be responsible for the originality and authorship of their creation, not being the publisher penalised, civil or criminally, for eventual plagiarism or inappropriate content.
Unprecedented and originality
By submitting the manuscript, the authors ensure that the work has not been previously published or is being reviewed by another journal. Literal copies of excerpts already published will not be accepted, except in exceptional cases, in the form of quotation. Illustrations and graphics from other sources must be credited, or accompanied by permission of their copyright holders, if applicable.
Policy on misconduct in scientific publishing
To promote research integrity and strengthen the transparency of the process, all material submitted to and published in the journal Educação Por Escrito must comply with the Good Practices Guide for Strengthening Ethics in Scientific Publication and the Open Science Compliance Form.
Regarding the retraction policy, in case of misconduct, Educação Por Escrito follows the guidelines adopted by the SciELO platform according to the Good Practices Guide and the Guide for the registration and publication of retractions. Retractions will only be published after analysis and authorization by the editorial board.
Conflict of Interest
Written Education requires all authors, editors, and reviewers to declare any conflicts of interest, financial or non-financial, that may influence—or be perceived to influence—the reader's interpretation of the article. Perceptions of conflicts of interest are as relevant as actual conflicts. Whenever there is any relationship between the authors and public or private organizations that could generate a conflict of interest, this information must be communicated and specified in the article. If there are no conflicts of interest, this must also be explicitly stated.
Ethics Committee
Educação Por Escrito is a member of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and follows its principles of ethics, transparency, and integrity in publication.
Instructions for filing complaints and reports
Complaints against the journal or its staff should be directed, in the first instance, to one of the two editors-in-chief. As appropriate, they will conduct an internal investigation. If necessary, they may request additional assistance from the Editorial Board. The investigation should be carried out swiftly and transparently.
Errata
With regard to the registration and publication of Errata (for correction, inclusion or exclusion of information) and Retraction (total or partial), the guidelines adopted by the SciELO platform in its official documents will be followed.
Similarity Verification
The journal uses Turnitin Originality software to check manuscript similarity. All manuscripts are analyzed in the initial submission phase before being sent for evaluation.
Confidentiality
The text submitted for evaluation is a document and will be protected from any form of exploitation.
Digital Preservation of Articles
The preservation policy is aligned with, and subordinate to, the policy and objectives of the SciELO Program.
