Neurocircuitaria, leitura e surdez:
uma pesquisa bibliográfica

Diferentes áreas do saber têm contribuído com achados científicos favoráveis ao entendimento dos processos envolvidos no aprendizado das habilidades de ler, a exemplo da neurociência. Assim sendo, o presente trabalho buscou sintetizar a contribuição de pesquisas de cunho neurocientífico quanto à ativação neuronal decorrente da plasticidade ligada ao processamento da leitura em pessoas surdas. Para tanto, foi realizada uma pesquisa bibliográfica de modo a compilar os achados científicos sobre neuroplasticidade e alfabetização. Com base nos artigos selecionados, percebe-se que pessoas surdas e ouvintes ativam, em comum, componentes da neurocircuitaria da leitura, como a área occipitotemporal ventral esquerda, mas divergem na ativação de regiões envolvidas no processamento, por exemplo, auditivo em ouvintes e motor nos surdos. Observou-se a necessidade de aquisição precoce da língua de sinais, bem como a importância de se compreender a conectividade neural dos componentes do processamento da linguagem para a leitura nos surdos
