O presente ensaio examina contos extraídos do livro Cada homem é uma raça (1990), do escritor moçambicano Mia Couto, considerando os aspectos históricos que marcam tal produção. Ao mesmo tempo, procura caracterizar as estratégias empregadas pelo autor ao revisitar a situação colonial e pós-colonial do seu país. Enfatiza a tese do hibridismo cultural como demarcação crítica às identidades localizadas a partir do nacionalismo étnico-racial. Marginal love affair and hybridism in Mia Couto’s short-stories Abstract: In this study, short-stories from the book Cada homem é uma raça (1990), by the Mozambican writer Mia Couto, are analyzed based on the historical aspects underlying such work. The strategies used by the author to revisit the postcolonial and colonial situation of his country is sought to be characterized. Therefore, the theory of cultural hybridism is brought up as a critical reading of identities located on the grounds of ethnic-racial nationalism.
