Abstract

This research is an exploratory bibliographic study regarding social responsibility in Higher Education institutions, aiming to assess the state of the art of this topic in the Southeast region and to identify the strategies institutions use to implement such policies. To achieve these objectives, the study relied on a literature review to examine the current state of knowledge on the subject. An exploratory analysis was conducted on institutional documents, specifically the Institutional Development Plan, available online for Higher Education institutions located in the Southeast region. The selected institutions were characterized as private universities that achieved a score of 5 (the highest rating) on the General Course Index during the most recent cycle. The study’s findings are expected to raise awareness among Higher Education institutions regarding the importance of their influence on local, regional, and potentially national communities, thereby helping to improve socioeconomic levels and access to sociocultural resources. Thus structured, the study may prove highly valuable to other institutions aspiring to achieve university status and, in doing so, become key drivers of social development for the external community
