Autonomy and recognition: two key-concepts in education
Keywords:
education, autonomy, recognition, HonnethAbstract
The essay tries to show why autonomy and recognition should be taken as two key-concepts for an adequate discussion of educational aims. Recurring to the kantian foundation of autonomy and the hegelian arguments on recognition, its possible to reveal the mutual relationship between both concepts; a relationship which is shown by A. Honneths theory of recognition as the condition to achieve real autonomy and self-esteem.Downloads
