Catechist training in the light of Jesus’ pedagogy

Abstract

This study analyzes the training of catechists in light of the pedagogy of Jesus, exploring essential paradigms such as the encounter in Capernaum and the pedagogy of the Road to Emmaus. It then reflects on the importance of the Christian community as a privileged space for training. The research is justified by the need for comprehensive training that responds to contemporary challenges and strengthens the evangelizing mission of the Church. The article aims to understand the vocation of the catechist as a missionary disciple, analyze the catechetical ministry in light of the teachings of Pope Francis, and propose a training itinerary that integrates the experience of community faith, mystagogy, and personal accompaniment. This research is characterized as qualitative, involving the analysis of biblical texts, ecclesial documents, and theological works that discuss catechetical training and the pedagogy of Jesus. The results indicate that the training of catechists must be deeply rooted in a divine calling, highlighting the importance of ecclesiality, Christology, and community as an essential training space. From this, it can be concluded that the Church needs to invest in continuous and flexible training, capable of preparing catechists to face the challenges of contemporary times, promoting a lively, relevant and transformative catechesis, which re-enchants faith and strengthens the evangelizing mission.
