About the Journal

Brief history of the magazine

Submitted texts are formally evaluated first by the editorial staff, who may request corrections and additions. Texts that do not fall within the scope of the Journal, that do not meet mandatory requirements or that are not adequate within the established deadline will be archived.

Once the admissibility of the submission has been verified, two opinions are requested from people specialised in the subject, which will be used by the publishers, with the latter remaining the final decision. Publication of papers is subject to compliance with its recommendations. The evaluation takes into account the originality of the treatment of the theme, the consistency and rigor of the approach, its contribution and its adequacy to the journal's thematic line.

The review system is double-blind: the names of the reviewers will remain confidential and the names of the authors before the reviewers will also be omitted.

Evaluators are expected to be objective in their assessment. If there is any conflict of interest or difficulty in making a judgment without significant influence from external factors, they should contact the editors. They are expected to indicate relevant literature if not accepted in the text.

The text and other information provided in the evaluation process should be treated confidentially and may not be used for any other purpose.

Preprints

This journal adopts the principles of Open Science, aligning itself with contemporary practices that promote transparency, accessibility, and the dissemination of scientific knowledge.

The journal accepts for evaluation manuscripts already available on a reliable preprint server, such as SciELO Preprints, of a non-commercial nature, provided they are not simultaneously undergoing peer review in another journal. Principles of Ethics and Best Practices in Academic Publishing

Authorship

The authors are original owners and will be responsible for the originality and authorship of their creation, not being the publisher penalised, civil or criminally, for eventual plagiarism or inappropriate content.

Unprecedented and originality

By submitting the manuscript, the authors ensure that the work has not been previously published or is being reviewed by another journal.

Literal copies of excerpts already published will not be accepted, except in exceptional cases, in the form of quotation. Illustrations and graphics from other sources must be credited, or accompanied by permission of their copyright holders, if applicable.

Policy on Misconduct in Scientific Publication

To promote research integrity and strengthen transparency in the process, all material submitted to and published in the Teocomunicação journal must comply with the Good Practices Guide for Strengthening Ethics in Scientific Publication and the Open Science Compliance Form.

Regarding the retraction policy, in cases of misconduct, the Teocomunicação journal follows the guidelines adopted by the SciELO platform according to the Good Practices Guide and the Guide for the registration and publication of retractions. Retractions will only be published after analysis and authorization by the editorial board.

Conflict of Interest

The journal Teocomunicação requires all authors, editors, and reviewers to declare any conflicts of interest, financial or non-financial, that may influence—or be perceived to influence—the reader's interpretation of the article. Perceptions of conflicts of interest are as relevant as actual conflicts. Whenever there is any relationship between the authors and public or private organizations that could generate a conflict of interest, this information must be communicated and specified in the article. If there are no conflicts of interest, this must also be explicitly stated.

Ethics Committee

The Teocomunicação journal is a member of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and follows its principles of ethics, transparency, and integrity in publication.

Instructions for Reporting Complaints and Reports

Complaints against the journal or its staff should be addressed, in the first instance, to one of the two editors-in-chief. As appropriate, they will conduct an internal investigation. If necessary, they may request additional assistance from the Editorial Board. The investigation should be carried out swiftly and transparently.

Error correction and retractions

Authors must commit to the publishing house, delivering the text in appropriate language and suitable for publication. However, you must notify the publisher if an error is identified in order to publish an erratum.

Errata

Regarding the registration and publication of Errata (for correction, inclusion, or exclusion of information) and Retraction (total or partial), the guidelines adopted by the SciELO platform in its official documents will be followed.

Similarity Verification

The journal uses Turnitin Originality software to verify the similarity of manuscripts. All manuscripts are analyzed in the initial submission phase, before being sent for evaluation.

Confidentiality

The text submitted for evaluation is a document and will be protected from any form of exploitation.

Digital Preservation of Articles

The preservation policy is aligned with, and subordinate to, the policy and objectives of the SciELO Program.
