This paper, has an epistemological approach, investigates the theoretical tools used to analyze the relationship between culture and communication, following two different paths. First, it stresses the importance of fine analysis that leave behind major generalizations in favor of a close apprehension of the everyday life; on the other hand, the paper discusses several ways in which the materiality of media must be considered in order to allow a comprehension of the social effects of the same media.Downloads
