This article proposes a conceptual and methodological investigation of the role of unfilmed scripts in film studies. By focusing on the retrospective and prospective temporalities of unfilmed scripts, the essay points out to a speculative archeology as a methodology. In the final part, there is an approach for a typology of unfilmed scripts, drawing attention to the blueprint script; the fragmented arguments and scripts; the authorial traces of unproduced scripts and the vicious circle of scripts that are filmed in a production context different from its original historical moment.
