In Modern Times: art, time, politics, the french philosopher Jacques Rancière (2021) provides elements to think about the constitution of great narratives in the historical process, putting under suspicion the past and future opposition, but also to think about the conditions of possibilities of the temporalities in the establishment of new regimes and disturbances of the sensitive, with an emphasis on cinema. Rancière’s reflection provokes a rethinking of the relationship between art, time and politics and the conflicts that are exposed with the treatment of different temporalities, so to speak, and a review of modernity and the hierarchical distribution of times and forms of life in the great narratives, especially in cinema.
