Autobiography. Edgar Morin. ComplexityAbstract
This article aims to think about (auto)biography from the methodology of complexity in Edgar Morin. A staunch adept of autobiographical writing, Morin has produced a large number of works in the genre, in addition, he is the author of a biography about his father, Vidal Nahum. He mixed the biography and personal diary genre by dedicating a book to Edwige Agnes, of whom he was widowed, and to whom he was married for thirty years. Based on a bibliographic research, we verified the presence of the autobiographical genre in the production of French. The author understood the individual and himself within a communicational circuit that is simultaneously multidimensional, multireferential, comprehensive, open and inclusive. Our conclusions show that, in Morin, there is a “synthetic conception of life”, a formula extracted from Arthur Rimbaud, which consists of 1) “resolving to live on different planes” and 2) “preserving free zones for poetry, literature, thought, but also to save private life”.
