Abstract

This paper discusses the culture of links active in the internet with the exchange practices between weblogs, personal sites and discussion lists among others. A network communication which, albeit the possibilities provided by the technological device, is restrained to connection activities in detriment of conjunction and collectiveness, thus producing a self-centered, passive and confrontationless culture.

Author Biography

Marta de Araújo Pinheiro, Federal University of Rio de Janeiro

She holds a degree in Social Communication from the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro (1977), a Master's degree in Communication from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (1989) and a PhD in Communication from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (1996). She is a professor and researcher in the permanent postgraduate program of Communication at the Federal University of Juiz de Fora (UFJF) and professor, exclusive dedication, associate level IV, at the Faculty of Communication (ECO) , at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ).
