Strength of expression: construction, consumption and contestation of representations the media minorities

Today, we witness a growing academic interest in the process by which minority images are conceived, structured and presented to the public by the mass media. After providing a historical overview of the research in this field, I examine the theoretical and methodological problems that involve the analysis of stereotypes and distortions in the media representations of marginalized or oppressed groups.Downloads
