A historical-theological balance of the critical distinction between faith and religion

The research is centered on the task of revisiting a theological reference framework of importance in the European and American context in the 20th century, which became known as Dialectical Theology, and which found an echo in different and important theological, Catholic and Protestant circles, to extract from it a guiding thread of the debate, which is the relationship between faith and religion. Methodologically, we chose to focus on the processes in which such a relationship was focused and deepened by renowned Protestant theologians Karl Barth and Dietrich Bonhoeffer, followed, in the background, by Friedrich Gogarten, Thomas Altizer, William Hamilton and Harvey Cox. research, the work offers a synthesis of the crucial aspects of the critical distinction between faith and religion, such as highlighting the partiality of religion and the integrality of faith, and of some key concepts that marked the processes of theological reflection on secularization, especially the notion of arreligious Christianity.
