Abstract

Paper’s goal is to define aesthetic terms and explain their condition inside the general lexicon, using an interdisciplinary approach that correlates aesthetics and applied linguistics. Based on Maria Teresa Cabré’s Communicative Theory of Terminology, we defend that aesthetic terms operate in a specialized language in art criticism. In conclusion, we argue that empirical studies about aesthetic terms can be related to the epistemological grounding of this article, mentioning some relevant examples that have already been published.
