Abstract

This research analised the entrance examination (vestibular) to the School of Agronomy in the Rural University of Brazil during the 1960’s, with the purpose of verifying if it was a good mechanism to select University students. The analysis were based on the work of two educators, Anísio Teixeira and Durmeval Trigueiro Mendes. The methodology involved information obtained through interviews and minutes of the University Council meetings. The study lead to the conclusions: the School of Agronomy was an institution similar to the Universities idealized by these educators and the vestibular examination in this school was an adequate mechanism to select its students.
