The aim of this paper is to study the characteristic profile of the Argentinean tobacco industry, both in reference to the production of raw material and manufacture. The plan is to account for the durability of an economic activity defined by the fiscal, productive and social contrasts that, however, manages to remain as a “traditional and pleasurable expression” – with its diverse brands, presentations, and flavors – in the everyday life of the Argentinean people. Business concentration, privilege, and conflict are the chosen focus to reach this purpose.Downloads
