A look at ancient Egypt in the New World: The Public Library of the State of Rio Grande do Sul, 1922

This article searches, from the historical point of view, the meaning of the artistic elements of Egyptian origin shown in the Director's room at the Public Library of the State of Rio Grande do Sul, added during the refurbishing of the building, in 1922. It also analyses a report of the journal A Federação, the official newspaper of the State government, regarding the opening ceremony of the new premises, and discurses the genesis of the decoration, under the perspective of the international trend of using ancient egyptian decoration.
