Empezando con la idea de que un cambio en la educación implica a los planes de estudio pero no se agota en ellos, el artículo destaca la mala utilización de la idea de sociedad del conocimiento en el capitalismo globalizado, dibujado como una sociedad no mucho diferente de la fordista. El autor afirma que no hay una sociedad del conocimiento, sino que hay un capitalismo que hace del conocimiento una fuente permanente de ganancia y valorización, donde la universidad es su principal agencia. Uma nueva universidad deberá reivindicar la inmersión social del conocimiento y habrá de atender permanentemente al conocimiento básico y el crítico, donde la planificación estraté-gica no debiera faltar. Por fin, presenta cuestiones sobre las carreras del personal docente y administra-tivo, advertiendo las tensiones con la autonomia y su falso entendimiento como extraterritorialidad.Descriptores – Sociedad de conocimiento; universidad; carrera; autonomia.
ABSTRACT – Based on the idea that change in education impacts on study plans but is not limited to it, this article identifies the wrong utilization of the idea of knowledge society in the globalized capi-talism understood as a society not much different from the Fordist. The author contends that there is no knowledge society but capitalist society which uses knowledge as a permanent source of desire and enhancement, where the university is the main agency. A new university must claim the social immer-sion of knowledge and will have to be responsive permanently to basic and critical knowledge, where strategic planning must not lack. Finally, this article presents questions about the careers of faculty and administrative staff, adverting the tensions with autonomy and its misunderstanding as extraterritorial-ity.
