The environments of the image: pedagogical effects

This article introduces the discussion of narratives of environment and sustainability as captured in press images. Inspired by Cultural Studies and their post structural perspectives the focus lies on the pedagogical effects of these images. The essay sets the media images against cartographies of affect created in an earlier research projects. The objective of the projects is to encounter the multiplicity in order to reveal various environments of the images. This article argues that media images depicting sustainability succeed a priori in selling a planned, controlled, and “green” environment.Downloads
