Teaching methods in the portuguese school: the Revista Escolar (1923-1926)

The object of this text is to verify, from a topic study, the organization of a certain modality of the pedagogic debate, taking as the organizer center line, the idea of teaching technique. To think about teaching methods require some dialog under the didactic dimension of the pedagogic debate. Under such work hypothesis, to perform a critical reading of the Revista Escolar, published in Portugal in the 20’s of last century, was tried. The study was focused, specifically, on the volumes comprehended between 1923 and 1926. The selected analysis categories were: child, pupil, teaching methods and school practices.With emphasis on the organization and classification of the articles, with the due observation of the above analytical categories, the acquirement of data about the strategy was attempted, upon which the journal proposed to perform pedagogy of the professorate. It meaning, in a sense, to encourage the teachers to read the magazine. Therewith, it was believed to teach how to teach (CARVALHO, 2001, 2006; BITTENCOURT, 1993).
