Abstract

The process of global power transition has had distinct effects on East Asia, where a new geopolitical framework expressed in the term Indo-Pacific has emerged, seeking to supplant the traditionally conceived Asia-Pacific. The research, of qualitative and exploratory-analytical nature, presents the structural origins of a new vision for regional order, analyzing its limitations in the face of the historical economic-security imperative of East Asia. It is concluded that the Indo-Pacific reconceptualization, which responds to the reorganization of the regional scenario promoted by Beijing, is still fragile because it does not align with the social foundations that characterize East Asian International Relations.
