Para além da superfície: sobre o conceito de Sistema Internacional

Resumo

Há uma sobrevalorização do conceito de Sistema Internacional enquanto forma de descrever o nível de análise sistêmico das relações internacionais, o que remete a um uso superficial do termo, muitas vezes colocando-o como sinônimo do próprio campo de estudos - ou de uma pretensa estrutura deste. Este artigo visa discutir a noção de Sistema Internacional, de modo a apresentar seus elementos constitutivos e quais são as correntes teóricas que o utilizam. A partir de tal empreendimento, aponta-se a adequabilidade limitada que tal conceito possui frente às múltiplas demandas de análise das relações internacionais e conclui-se que reificar tal conceito sucumbe a uma deficiência teórica e, respectivamente, à falência analítica.
