La teoría de las tradiciones de investigación de Alasdair MacIntyre contra el universalismo de la ilustración, el relativismo, y el perspectivismo

La teoría de las tradiciones de investigación de Alasdair MacIntyre es su respuesta al problema de la discrepancia radical entre perspectivas filosóficas y su inconmensurabilidad prima facie. MacIntyre considera que en el universalismo de la ilustración está la raíz del problema, motivo por lo desarrolla, por lo desarrolla una vigorosa crítica de sus afirmaciones de ser un lugar neutral para el juicio de sus teses rivales. Al mismo tiempo, sin embargo, MacIntyre propone que una marca de tradición racional es su tendencia a trascender los límites de su origen, con el objetivo de una efetiva objetividad, y en consonancia con tal aspiración desarrolla también una crítica sistemática a las posiciones relativistas y perspectivistas. Algunos críticos de MacIntyre ven una tensión problemática, cuando no una contradicción manifesta, en este duplo rechazo a MacIntyre. El objetivo es mostrar que el pensamiento de MacIntyre escapa a tales objeciones y constituye un eficaz contrapunto al universalismo de la ilustración como posiciones de relativismo y del perspectivismo.
