Educate for good in order to take root
values and metaphysics in Simone Weil

Concerned by the anthropological crisis that humanity is going through today, which is a kind of uprooting, according to the language of Simone Weil, a loss of environments and vital relationships that makes human beings more vulnerable and unhappy, we ask: by what means can philosophy, in its reflexive and pedagogical vocation, contribute to rooting? Following Weil's philosophy, her passion for the human soul and her profound social analysis, we show that rooting requires a metaphysical understanding of human reality. The universal requirement of the “absolute good” inhabiting the heart of the human being testifies its anchoring in the reality “other” than this world. This “sacred”, which our attention is called to discover, emerges as a measure of the true values of existence and a source of respect for others. Therefore, our philosophical education of moral conscience contributes to rooting when it arouses motives consistent with the Good and the values of truth, beauty and justice.
