Resumo

Avaliação é um conceito central para abordagens cognitivas na ciência afetiva. De acordo com a Teoria da Avaliação, emoções são produzidas e diferenciadas com base na avaliação da relevância pessoal da situação, objeto ou evento com o qual alguém se depara. Este artigo aborda a questão de o que exatamente são avaliações emocionais. Eu discuto e rejeito a alegação de que avaliações são juízos de valor e a alegação de que avaliações são avaliações corporificadas. Essas duas teses atribuem conteúdo representacional às emoções. Em contraste, argumento que devemos tomar avaliações emocionais como percepções de affordances relevantes. Essa tese pode explicar as observações que favorecem as concepções cognitivas das emoções (como o fato de que as emoções são estados intencionais permeados de valores que podem ser avaliados racionalmente), ao mesmo tempo que evita os problemas enfrentados pelas teorias que atribuem conteúdo representacional às emoções

Rafael Graebin Vogelmann, Universidade Federal de Santa Maria (UFSM), Santa Maria, Rio Grande do Sul, Brasil.

Professor do Departamento de Filosofia da UFSM e Professor Permanente do Programa de Pós Graduação em Filosofia (PPGF). Doutor em Filosofia pela Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS) (2021), com um período como aluno visitante de pós-graduação na Universidade da Califórnia - Los Angeles (UCLA) (2019-2020). Seus interesses se concentram principalmente em metaética, filosofia da ação, e psicologia moral.
