Thinking and proposing faith in the contemporary world from the category of experience

Abstract

The proposal of faith today, from the category of experience, fits into the great tradition of the Epistle of Peter (1Pt 3,15), the magnum opus of theology and Christian faith at all times. Since the first centuries, Christianity has strived to give reasons for its hope to anyone who asked for it. The challenge that arises for theology and pastoral care is precisely to discover the way in which God himself is acting in contemporary society and to propose the Gospel in such a way that it can be welcomed in people’s daily lives. The task of evangelization consists of taking into account current cultural dynamisms and placing ourselves at the service of the “beginnings” or “new beginnings” of faith. The proposal for thinking about faith is to recover the search for meaning, where experience occupies a privileged place and can emerge as a new paradigm that contributes to responding to the calls of society and its demands in the field of faith.
