Abstract

The present work consists of an analysis of Pope Francis' pastoral perspective in relation to urban evangelization, based on a dialogical proposition between the Gospel of John, the Church's magisterium and the reality of contemporary cities. Through a reflection on the different perspectives present in the passage from John 19, the attitudes of indifference, testimony and faith represented by the characters described there stand out. In parallel, the challenges faced by urban pastoral care are presented, especially in the context of growing urbanization and social inequalities. Pope Francis' encyclical Fratelli Tutti is explored as a source of inspiration and guidance to overcome indifference and promote a more inclusive and compassionate vision of human fraternity in cities. Given this, the present study seeks to contribute to a broader and deeper understanding of the role of the Church in evangelization, offering relevant insights for theological reflection and pastoral practice.
