The failure of the psychological contract: contribution to the adjustment of violation and rupture scales

Abstract

This study is a contribution to the adjustment of scales for the breach of psychological contract, through the scale of psychological contract violation of Morrinson and Robinson (2000) and the scale of psychological contract rupture of Rousseau (2000). The scale of psychological contract violation consists of five items, a Likert scale of 5 points, from the totally disagree to totally agree, with two of the items that are reversed. The rupture of the psychological contract scale (Rousseau, 2000) consists of four items, also distributed on a scale of five points. The final sample consists of 635 human assets of Portuguese public universities. Confirmatory factor in the solution of the scale of rupture of the psychological contract, the data show a better fit in a structure of two factors. The violation of contract scale has also two factors.
