Abstract

Obstetric violence involves negligent, abusive, or disrespectful conduct by the healthcare team during the pregnancy and postpartum period. This study aimed to culturally adapt and validate the questionnaire for measuring obstetric violence as perceived by professionals in maternal and obstetric care. It was conducted in two stages: (1) semantic adaptation of the PercOV-S and (2) factor analyses (exploratory and confirmatory). The sample included 326 professionals from different regions of Brazil. A sociodemographic questionnaire and the adapted version of the PercOV-PS were used. The analyses included exploratory factor analysis, confirmatory factor analysis, network analysis, and the Mann-Whitney test. The PercOV PS instrument was validated in the Brazilian context, demonstrating a consistent internal factor structure and the potential for reapplication in future studies. The results indicated that the instrument has validity and reliability in the Brazilian context. The PercOV-PS proved to be effective for future investigations, professional training, and the identification of and response to obstetric violence.
