Abstract

Recantation after disclosure of child sexual abuse (CSA) corresponds to the child denying of a previous disclosure. This study aimed to build and validate an instrument for screening recantation risk factors. In Step 1, the instrument items were elaborated from the integration of factors identified through literature review, interviews with professionals and analysis of criminal cases of CSA. In Step 2, the first version of the instrument was submitted to content validation by eight experts, obtaining a satisfactory Content Validity Index (CVI) (> 0.80). The preliminary version of the Screening Instrument for the Risk of Recantation after Disclosure of Child Sexual Abuse is composed of 27 items, which reflect representativeness of content, theoretical adequacy, and relevance. Future studies should be carried out on the predictive validity and reliability of the IRASC.
