Tras la pista de las mujeres de Chicago: conexiones orgánicas y radicales del pragmatismo clásico americano

En nuestro texto procuramos reencontrar las ligaciones pragmáticas desarrolladas en Chicago, en el paso del siglo XIX al XX, a una visión feminista de la sociedad como un todo orgánico. Para este efecto, revisitamos la contribución de Jane Addams, una de las pioneras teóricas sociales americanas. Aunque no estuvo directamente asociada con la Escuela de Chicago, su trabajo sería muy influyente para diversos autores de la Escuela que también la influenciaron. Entre estos, destacamos particularmente a John Dewey e intentamos establecer las ligaciones entre su pensamiento sobre comunidad, la centralidad del pragmatismo americano clásico en la comunicación y las transformaciones feministas de la ética. Concluimos con una referencia a la urgencia de releer a Adams y Dewey en sus comprensiones de comunidad, en tiempos neoliberales que llevaron al reciente cierre de lo que restaba, en términos prácticos, del importante trabajo de Janes Addams en las comunidades que ella buscó desarrollar y fortalecer.
