Live memory of the communication sciences

Abstract

The scientific field of communication may be the most controversial arena among the ramifications of science. Refuted by different hierarchical levels within the formal system of academic production, the area had, on several occasions and especially in Brazil, its own legitimacy put to the test. "After all, communication is science?", question the apocalyptics (and even some integrated ones, to quote Umberto Eco), questioning the real value of the knowledge generated in this axis.
