Abstract

This research investigates individual clothing choices from the perspective of symbolic representation, cultural signs, and collective memory, exploring fashion as an artistic and cultural expression, intertwined with personal and social narratives. The adopted methodology involved a phenomenological analysis, revealing the complexity of the relationships between clothing, memory, and identity. From the study, it can be observed that clothing transcends mere functionality, becoming social documents that assume individuals’ identities, recording moments and stories. The intersection of clothing and memory provided a deep immersion into the symbolic layers of daily clothing choices, highlighting connections with the tapestry of cultural and individual memory. Although preliminary, the research provides a reflection on this dynamic, acknowledging the constant revelation and concealment of the phenomenon from a dialectical perspective.
