Through the concepts of risk and negligence, contemporary cultures construct accidents, crimes and catastrophes as depending upon political decisions. On one hand, this construction explains why what used to be considered as fait divers is today viewed as political, economic or scientific news. On the other hand, at least in Brazil, this construction operates a moral distribution between regular, innocent individuals and incompetent, corrupt politicians. This distribution feeds moral indignation and increases the crisis of politics.Downloads
