Latin American intellectuals, modernity, Colombian telenovelaAbstract
The article aims to answer the question asked by Martín Barbero and Germán Rey: Why do Latin American intellectuals have a negative view when addressing cultural problems and especially those related to television? It will be argued that the so-called "negative view "is based on a prejudice about what is an intellectual, a social imaginary that originated in the becoming of Western culture. Such a subject can be registered from the hegemony of the Christian world in the West that intensifies with the emergence of modernity. Such a situation, "the negative gaze", is characterized by the separation between thinking and daily life. Finally, it is evident a vision about a Colombian telenovela as it happens in the scope of the television.Downloads
