Abstract

Dominique Wolton was in Porto Alegre in May 2005, where he gave a seminar at the invitation of the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio Grande do Sul's Graduate Course in Social Communication, at which time he granted this interview. This interview intends to offer the reader an overview of the genesis of his ideas, seeking to contextualize the author's current thinking on the information and communication technologies in the set of his work, referring to texts little known in Brazil.

Dominique Wolton, Sorbonne, França

DOMINIQUE WOLTON, sociólogo e diretor do Centro Nacional de Pesquisa Científica da França (CNRS), é autor de quase vinte livros nos quais a comunicação é o tema predominante. Para ele, a comunicação é o principal desafio social e cultural do século XXI, sendo condição para o gerenciamento das questões de identidade e da democracia na sociedade globalizada.
