In her recent book The Consecration of Appearance (Edufba, 2011), the journalist Renata Pitombo explores the relationship between fashion and media, concentrating her attention on journalistic texts from two newspaper in Bahia: A Tarde and A Tribuna da Bahia. The choice of vehicles was based on the central hypothesis of the study presented in this book by Renata: to investigate the construction of a fashion discourse in the city of Salvador (BA), seeking to understand the importance of this practice for the Bahia news media.
