This article approaches the Liturgy of the Hours as a possibility of ecclesial prayer for families in times of pandemic. The purpose is to present theological and pastoral aspects so that the Liturgy of the Hours is more valued in the liturgical life of families and communities during the pandemic and also after it. Therefore, the theme is presented in three stages: 1) through the Apostolic Constitutions and the Pilgrimage of Etheria, both patristic documents from the fourth century, it seeks to highlight how the participation of the entire ecclesial community was frequent in the first fruits of Christianity; 2) analyzing the Sacrosanctum Concilium and the General Instruction of the Liturgy of the Hours, the Church’s insistence that all the faithful have proper access to the treasure of this form of prayer is highlighted; 3) finally, ways are raised by which the Liturgy of the Hours can reach the bosom of families, as well as the spiritual benefits that this can promote. After reflection, it appears that there is still a long way to go in order for the Liturgy of the Hours to draw closer to the People of God.
