Abstract

This article aims at an understanding of the concept Secularization in the sense discussed by the Sociology of Religion, specifically in comprehensive sociology of Max Weber. So then do a review of the peculiar and ambiguous process of secularization Brazil, emphasizing the project of secular education, to then realize that the space was occupied Religious Education in this historic process. Being in the first instance configured as a doctrine or teaching to practice their religion in the second as the ethical and moral values and the third moment as cultural knowledge of different religious practices considering the plural reality of Brazil.
