For over two decades Scientia Medica has sought improvements in its quality and visibility. Some of the important milestones in its history include the composition of a qualified editorial board, representative of different areas of health and with important scientific production; electronic publishing; adaptation to strict international standards of scientific publications; expansion of the framework of reviewers; and extension of the index databases. In late 2011, we are spending over a new period of remarkable transition. With a sense of accomplished mission at this stage, I am passing the position of Editor-in-chief to Eleonor Gastal Lago, who has been acting as assistant editor. Major changes and challenges await us. Greater interdisciplinarity in health sciences, bolder policies seeking to increase visibility, and closer links with the Post-Graduate Programs are some of the most immediate challenges that the team of Scientia Medica is ready to face.Downloads
