Este ensayo explora distintas concepciones sobre la paz y su relación conceptual con ‘desarrollo sostenible’. Se caracteriza una visión de paz integral como paradigma que fundamenta la pedagogía que plantea la Década de Educación para el Desarrollo Sostenible. En este contexto, se presenta y analiza La Carta de la Tierra como marco ético y conceptual para sustentar una visión pedagógica que el autor considera apropiada para el logro de los fines de dicha Década. Estos fines incluyen conscientización, desarrollo personal, aplicación de valores y principios y creación de alian-zas y redes. Los valores, principios y algunas aproximaciones pedagógicas consecuentes son entonces explorados.Descriptores – Educación para la paz; educación para el desarrollo sostenible; Carta de la Tierra.
ABSTRACT – This essay explores diverse conceptions of peace and its conceptual relationship with ‘sustainable development’. An integral vision of peace is characterized to serve as a paradigm that can provide a foundation for the pedagogy necessary for in the Decade of Sustainable Development Edu-cation. In this context, the Earth Charter is presented and analyzed as an ethical and conceptual frame-work that can serve to support a pedagogical vision which the autor considers appropriate to fulfill the goals of this Decade. These goals include conscientization, personal development, aplication of values and principles, and creation of alliances and networks. Finally, some agreeing values, principles and pedagogical approaches are explored.
