“Leite Derramado” and the anachronistic perception of one narrator between two times

: In this paper, we propose a critical interpretation of the book Leite Derramado, by Chico Buarque. The objective is to analyze the memorial reconstruction and the anachronistic perception that Eulalio - the central character of the narrative - has on its economic situation and on the history of his family. We realize that the social and historical changes - suffered by Brazil between 1907 and 2007 - do not alter the hereditarily delayed and centenary look of the narrator. Thus, he remains oblivious to social changes and does not understand the relationship they retain with its financial decline. Therefore, we seek to highlight the roots of this inaccurate perception and the consequences of the incompatibility between it and the social-historical reality of contemporary Brazil.Downloads
