Abstract

The antiphospholipid syndrome (APS) is the commonest cause of acquired thrombophylia in young adults. APS presents as a primary disorder or in association with conective tissue diseases, in particular systemic lupus erythematosus. The occurrence of obstetric events in patients with APS is of great interest for professionals of Rheumatology and Obstetrics/Gynaecology. We herein approach conceptual aspects of APS and the obstetric events (recurrent abortions, pre-eclampsia) related to the presence of antiphospholipid antibodies.
