From the machadian mirror to the cybermirror: interiority in the current somatic culture

In contemporary culture there seems to be a progressive decline of the modern interiority, based on the conflict between a psychological deepness and the surface of social masks. Nowadays a certain decline of the psychologically configurated subjectivity can be observed, as well as a gradual rise of new scripts of subjectivation which are no longer organized in terms of a tension between two poles: inside/outside, interiority versus exteriority. “Interiority” tends to be reconfigured, following the increasing cultural domination of neurosciences and the emergence of the somatic culture, which stresses the biochemical and molecular levels of the bodies (specially brain, hormones and genes).Downloads
