Abstract

The purpose of this article is to develop systematically a concept of objectivity in jour na lism. To do so, the theory of kno w led ge is employed. Differences between ob jec ti vi ty on the one hand, and the con cepts of relevance, accuracy and precision, neutrality, impartiality, pluralism, con sen se, agreement and useability, one the other hand, are discussed. In this context it will be examined more closely whether or not these concepts can help clarifying the problem of objectivity in journalism.
